The past twenty years or so have been unkind to the aesthetics of residential architecture. As suburban homes have gotten larger, dollars have been stretched to make ends meet. And design has suffered as a result. Architectural details, so prevalent in the homes built by craftsmen early in the 20th Century, were stripped in the new suburbia. Side and rear elevation details were eliminated. In many neighborhoods it's not unusual to see side elevations of homes with an unbroken plane of vinyl siding. No windows. No decoration. Minimal landscaping.

Instead of balanced, 360-degree architecture, the homes of the late 20th Century place an inordinate amount of "value" in the facade of the home. Brick and stone accents. Complex roof structures. Towering entry halls.

Homescape takes a different approach. Our Family Home collection features a wide range of house types and styles ranging from small starter homes up to the executive suite. In all Family Home plans, the floor plans are sensible, efficient, and well conceived. The elevations are appropriately ornamented without resorting to gimmickry. The proportions are right. The aesthetic appeal is obvious.
